Free Oncology Telemedicine
What is Abrale telemedicine?
It is a distance (virtual) service, offered free of charge to patients with cancers and blood diseases.
The COVID-19 pandemic requires important care for the entire population and social distancing is one of the guidelines suggested by the World Health Organization (WHO), as this method enables the reduction of the mass transmission of the new coronavirus.
For patients with hematological cancer, keeping this care is even more essential due to their low immunity, caused by the disease itself or the therapeutic protocols, which increases the chances for the development of COVID-19 in its severe form. On the other hand, medical follow-up cannot stop. After all, good results in the treatment also depend on the continuity of the indicated therapies and exams.
How does Abrale Telemedicine work?
To facilitate patient access to medical appointments, we launched our newest project, Telemedicina Abrale. Family members or patients with leukemias, lymphomas, multiple myeloma, myelodysplasia and blood disorders (ITP, polycythemia vera, essential thrombocythemia, PNH and aplastic anemia) will have access to specialists in Onco-Hematology and pediatric oncologists, to clarify doubts on various topics related to diseases and their treatments. And all this for free!
As of June 2021, telemedicine for consultations with nutritionists began and the operation is the same as for medical consultations.
There are two types of service, both pre-scheduled and individual, done remotely:
- Tele Orientation – Patients receive basic guidance regarding the disease, its signs and symptoms and the use of medication, treatment stages, follow-up exams and habits that can alleviate symptoms and prevent complications.
- Teleconsultation – Through this service, it is possible to refer and prescribe tests that the patient should request from their doctor of origin, second medical opinion and guidance on the use of coadjuvant drugs in the treatment, for the prevention and/or relief of side effects.
Both services require patients to have access to the Internet and hold at-hand results and previous reports on their diagnosis and treatment.
