Onco Ensino – Oncology Teaching | Distance Learning

What is Onco Ensino?

Onco Ensino is an educational platform to support health units that perform cancer diagnosis and treatment in Brazil, promoted by the ABRALE – Associação Brasileira de Linfoma e Leucemia (Brazilian Association of Lymphoma and Leukemia)

Through Onco Ensino, service units and centers can complement their permanent education strategy, offering professional development courses to their employees.

The courses are fast, and follow the distance learning model. Classes are taught by health professionals, and the topics are related to the modalities of attendance (promotion and prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care).

What is the purpose of Onco Ensino?

ABRALE aims to train and update doctors and health professionals involved in cancer care in the country. For this purpose, we seek to encourage prevention and early diagnosis. In addition, it also aims to disseminate successful practices in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients, in palliative care, and in multidisciplinary patient care.

How do Onco Ensino courses work?

Classes are led by leading experts in their areas. The themes are permeated by cases, interviews and demonstrations of procedures. The high quality of audiovisual resources are part of the strategy to encourage the student to complete the program until the end.

Some courses are followed by expert tutors, and invited to actively participate in the courses, in various activities such as readings, questionnaires, research, forums and live classes.

The self-instructional version of Onco Ensino aims to guarantee its autonomy and independence, through flexible access to content and without the mediation of tutoring. In this model, students have the opportunity to learn by interacting with the contents, with colleagues in the forums and also with their own reflections. All materials are released from the beginning of the course. In this way, students can advance in classes according to their availability. The class questionnaires have automatic and immediate feedback so that each student can easily monitor their performance.

All courses offer certificates

Upon completing 100% of the course and obtaining a grade of 70% or higher, the student receives the certificate with educational support from the Instituto Israelita de Ensino e Pesquisa Albert Einstein.

Who can participate in Onco Ensino are Health Professionals:

  • working in health care units or centers;
  • nominated by supporters or strategic partners of ABRALE;
  • who work in the private area and want to buy the training to update themselves.

How are vacancies distributed?

Institutions that perform cancer diagnosis and treatment in Brazil, who want to have access to vacancies, must apply for a partnership through Abrale. This is because Abrale establishes cooperation agreements and provides partners in 3 classes per year.

Each contemplated institution is committed to publicizing the courses among its employees, as well as enrolling interested parties. The Institution must also monitor student performance during the program.

The project is supported by the National Support Program for Oncological Care of the Ministry of Health, thus, the vacancies are primarily intended for SUS care institutions.

ABRALE

ABRALE – Brazilian Lymphoma and Leukemia Association – was founded in 2002 with the mission of offering help and mobilizing partners so that all people with blood cancer in Brazil have access to the best treatment.
